The Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA) is pleased to announce the installation of its new president, Alexandra Sheppard, at its annual general meeting on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

As of today, eligibility for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will open for children under 18, and people with a valid Canada Disability Tax Credit.

It’s a historic time in Canada for the oral health of the country’s most vulnerable populations. Yesterday, on May 1, many independent dental hygienists began providing treatment for eligible seniors under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

The Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Chrystia Freeland, tabled the federal government’s Budget 2024 today. The Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA) commends the federal government’s commitment to expanding the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program to dental hygienists working in rural and remote communities, among other health care and social services professionals.

April is Oral Health Month in Canada, and an important part of the celebration is National Dental Hygienists Week™ (NDHW™), which takes place from April 4 to 10. The week’s theme is “Oral Health for Total Health,” reminding us that taking care of our teeth and gums has an impact on so much more than just our mouth.
