CDHA Releases Policy Paper on A National Oral Health Care Plan For Seniors

In a policy paper released today, the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA) is calling on the Government of Canada to commit $2 billion over five years to provincial and territorial governments to deliver a pan-Canadian oral health program that would give Canadian seniors, wherever they may live, access to preventive oral care services to help them maintain good oral health and, consequently, better overall health.

Searching for Dental Hygiene Superheroes

Championed by CDHA and sponsored by SENSODYNE, the Dental Hygiene Superhero competition runs from February 1 to May 17 and celebrates dental hygienists who educate and empower their clients to embrace the “oral health for total health” motto.

Oral Health in Long-Term Care

According to a national poll conducted by Abacus Data for the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA), nearly all Canadians believe that oral health care should be included in the new national standards for long-term care. Most Canadians also give the current state of oral care for older adults and seniors a poor rating.
