The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)

Dental hygiene is the 6th largest registered health profession in Canada with 29,246 registered dental hygienists working in a variety of settings, with people of all ages, addressing issues related to oral health.

The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is responsible for the collection and reporting of health workforce information for 30 health professions in Canada – including dental hygienists. Their publications provide a pan-Canadian picture, and provincial/territorial breakdowns of various health professions in Canada. This information is pivotal for health system planning and decision making.
