The Canada Dental Benefit ended on June 30, 2024
Introduced by the Government of Canada in 2022, the Canada Dental Benefit was an interim financial support measure
administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to help lower dental costs for eligible families with an annual adjusted
net income less than $90,000. Parents and guardians may have been eligible if they had to pay for dental care for a
child under 12 years old who did not have access to a private dental insurance plan.
The benefit provided payments over a two-year period between October 1, 2022 and June 30, 2024. A tax-free payment of
$260, $390, or $650 was available for each eligible child based on adjusted family net income per year of eligibility.
Dental hygiene services
The Canada Dental Benefit covered any oral health services provided by an eligible oral health professional, including
dental hygienists who were licensed to practice in the applicant's province or territory. This included any settings
where the oral health professional was licensed to practice.
