Position Papers, Statements & Guidelines
Welcome to CDHA’s Scholarly Activities and Scientific Study webpage! CDHA provides leadership on critical and
emerging issues related to oral health and dental hygiene by enhancing access to research evidence, facilitating
timely application of research to practice through knowledge translation and developing position papers and
statements on a given topic. Evidence-informed resources synthesize and analyze the available evidence on a given
topic and develop recommendations to inform policy, programming and dental hygiene practice.
Examples of scientific self-study activities may include:
- Reading dental, dental hygiene and/or medical peer reviewed journals
- Reading CDHA position papers, statements and/or guidelines
- Reading dental or dental hygiene peer reviewed textbooks
- Reading medical advisories and factsheets published by a provincial/territorial regulatory body (i.e., CDHO
Knowledge Network)
- Reading a CJDH Between The Lines video interview article
Many provincial/territorial dental hygiene regulatory authorities provide CE credit for self-study activities
of a scientific nature. Please consult your regulatory
college and continuing competency program requirements for more information.
