Summary

BMS Group, CDHA's professional liability insurance and clinic business insurance broker, has partnered with Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP to provide legal and insurance services to CDHA members through the BMS Insurance Programs.

With the increase in number of practitioners, scope of practice, and practice opportunities in dental hygiene, there has been a corresponding increase in the number of professional liability claims. The complaint process can be a highly stressful experience for the CDHA member, and may result in higher insurance premiums, which must be borne by all members.

In this webinar, Susan Winch, vice president of BMS Group (Healthcare Professionals Insurance Alliance), and Andrew McKenna, a partner at Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP, discuss best practices for dental hygiene. Topics will include client privacy and confidentiality, professional misconduct, and ethical and legal obligations to your client and to your college. They will explain the college complaint process and the civil or legal processes involved when a member faces an allegation of professional negligence or misconduct. A general overview of CDHA's professional liability insurance and clinic business insurance programs will also be provided.
