Summary

Interprofessional education (IPE) aims to facilitate interprofessional collaborative care. The dental hygiene pre-licensure curriculum learning activities provide the student with collaborative care experiences; sometimes purposefully planned, sometimes not. Scholars of IPE believe that collaborative care must be taught—explicitly and with clear purpose. Accreditation for all of the health professions is increasingly recognizing IPE as a means of ensuring that programs graduate collaborative-ready entry-to-practice practitioners. This webinar discusses two concepts: IPE and collaborative care. Two models are shared that will help the educator better position him/herself to understand the concepts and how to prepare collaborative care curricula.
