Summary
CDHA’s Member and Family Assistance Program (MFAP) is a free, confidential program which offers short-term
counselling and support related to a wide variety of issues including relationship issues, depression and anxiety,
stress management, grief and bereavement, work and family balance, parenting, substance use, and work-related
problems. It can also support in areas of childcare and elder care, career planning, financial, and legal
consultation.
Facilitated by Homewood Health, this session will provide information pertaining to the range of counselling
services available within the program, how confidentiality is maintained, how to access the program, and what to
expect from your MFAP.

Presenter
Florence O’Connor, BComm
Florence has a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Concordia University. She has over 25 years of experience
in
customer relations. She has been with Homewood Health for seven years as an account executive, managing
assistance
for customers in Eastern Ontario.
Moderator
Melissa Chaulk, RDH, BSc
Melissa is a graduate of the dental hygiene program at Cambrian College, holds a bachelor’s degree in
biomedical
biology from Laurentian University, and is working part time on a master’s degree in education from the
University of
Ottawa. After working for several years in general practice, she became a theory instructor and clinical
educator, and
most recently held the position of clinical coordinator at the Canadian National Institute of Health in
Ottawa,
Ontario, for six years. Melissa is the manager of professional development at the Canadian Dental Hygienists
Association.
