Summary
The presentation will focus on the accreditation process used by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada
(CDAC) to evaluate dental hygiene education programs in Canada.
This session will provide an overview of the accreditation process. Participants will learn about the history of
dental
hygiene accreditation in Canada and its importance, the onsite survey visit, and the pre and post survey
documentation.
The session will also answer questions including "What is accreditation?" and "Why is accreditation an important
process for education programs?"
Presenter
Frédéric Duguay, MBA, CAE
Frédéric Duguay is the Director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). CDAC is the body
responsible for accrediting dental, dental specialty, dental residency, dental hygiene and dental assisting
education
programs in Canada.
Frédéric holds an E.M.B.A. from the Université du Québec à Montréal. His experience includes process management,
policy
and standards management and compliance, and portfolio/program analysis and assessment. Since 2012, Frédéric has
participated in more than 120 accreditation survey visits, and has been invited to speak at various stakeholder
meetings and conferences throughout Canada.

Victoria Leck, MHM, RDH
At the time of original presentation, Victoria was the manager of professional development. She is a graduate of the dental hygiene program at Canadore College, holds a bachelor’s degree in health administration from Ryerson University, and a master's degree in health management from McMaster University.
