Summary

In this session, we will explore the “why,” “how,” and “what” questions surrounding the national competencies for dental hygiene education in Canada. We will examine the results of the 2013 CDHA Delphi study implemented in collaboration with the University of Manitoba to gain a better understanding of the competencies associated with four-year dental hygiene baccalaureate education as well as other Canadian and international literature that sheds light on baccalaureate education. In particular, we will analyze the competencies that were found to differentiate between diploma and baccalaureate dental hygiene graduate abilities.
