Types of CDHA Membership

Active Membership (Practising)

Active Membership in  CDHA may be granted to an individual:

  • who is legally eligible to practise dental hygiene in at least one of the jurisdictions of Canada;
  • who has paid CDHA membership dues in full for the current membership year, and supports the mission of CDHA.

 

Support Membership (Non-practising)

Support Membership in CDHA may be granted to an individual:

  • who is a dental hygienist not holding an active license/registration;
  • who has paid CDHA membership dues in full for the current membership year and supports the mission of CDHA.

 

Graduated Student Membership

**NEW effective May 1, 2015**

Graduated Student Membership may be granted to an individual:

  • who is a current CDHA Student member;
  • who is a recent graduate of an accredited entry level dental hygiene program;
  • who has recently passed the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam;
  • who supports the mission of CDHA.

NOTE: This FREE membership category includes Professional Liability Insurance for the remainder of the calendar year in which the exam was passed, but your insurance policy will only be valid once you receive your licence to practise. The graduated student membership category is available one time only to new graduates and is automatically processed when CDHA receives notification from NDHCB of successful exam completion. Student Membership

Student Membership in CDHA may be granted to an individual:

  • who is enrolled as a student in an accredited entry level dental hygiene program, or to a dental hygienist who is not currently employed/licensed as a dental hygienist and has enrolled full time in a post diploma program;
  • who supports the mission of  CDHA.

 

Retired Membership

Retired Membership in CDHA may be granted to a dental hygienist:

  • who has been an Active CDHA member in good standing for a minimum of 10 years;
  • who has permanently resigned their provincial registration/license to practise;
  • who has paid CDHA membership dues in full for the current membership year and supports the mission of CDHA.

 

Life Membership

Life Membership in CDHA may be granted to a dental hygienist (Awarded Life Membership List):

  • who has maintained continuous CDHA membership in the active category for a minimum of fifteen (15) years;
  • who has been involved in dental hygiene at the national level in an official capacity for a minimum of ten (10) years;
  • who has made a significant contribution to the growth and progress of dental hygiene and CDHA; and
  • who has been recommended for Life Membership and approved by the Board of Directors.
