Chronic gastric disorders are some of the most common systemic diseases encountered in clients today. This webinar will
provide an overview of these types of disorders and examine the evidence-based association between the presence of specific
oral pathogens and the potential for treatment failure and, thus, recurrence. In addition, medications used in the treatment
of gastric disorders will be discussed, along with their potential oral manifestations and dental implications. The session
also explores periodontal disease and periodontal maintenance as part of the treatment of chronic gastritis, and touches
on erosion and hypersensitivity.

Matilde is a graduate of the Central University of Venezuela, with 13 years of clinical practice experience as a dentist.
She obtained both her dental degree and her specialization as a periodontist from the Central University of Venezuela
where she subsequently worked as an assistant professor of periodontology. Matilde is currently a member of the Colgate
Oral Pharmaceuticals Professional Relations Department and works extensively with dental and dental hygiene professional
development programs throughout North America. Matilde is an active member of the International Association of Dental
Research, the International Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Hispanic Dental Association.

Paula, a registered dental hygienist and manager of health policy at the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA),

Education Advisory Committee and Research Advisory Committee to build capacity and advance research in the dental hygiene
profession, and to meet the evolving and complex oral health needs of the public
